Music News For The Week Of September 21, 2014!

Helix, you may remember them from the 80’s as one of Canada’s heavier bands. They released another album this year called From The Bastard Of The Blues. This is the new single, Even Jesus (Wasn’t Loved In His Hometown). I think it’s a good track. Check them out and let me know what you think.

Neil Young has announced that his new orchestral album, Storeytone, will be out sometime in November. He has released three versions of his single, Who’s Gonna Stand Up? You may not care, but I do. Jeff Lynne has hinted that he may bring ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) back with a tour. Now that’s something worth hoping for.

AC/DC have made several announcements this week. One is the name of their new album, Rock Or Bust. Out on December 2. The bigger announcement is that rocker Malcolm Young has Dementia and is in medical care and is no longer able to be with the band. I want to take a minute and recognize that this rhythm guitarist was the main drive behind AC/DC and gave us great rock for over 40 years. He will be missed and most of all I hope he has an easy time dealing with the disease. Genesis’s documentary, Together And Apart, will air on the BBC on October 4, at 9:15 p.m.

Bruce Springsteen will be releasing a box set on November 17. It is called: The Album Collection Vol. 1 1973-1984. It will feature remastered versions of the first 7 albums. It will contain the original packaging, as well as a 60 page booklet, with rare and never before seen photos.

Def Leppard’s Vivian Campbell is taking a break from Def Leppard, as he goes for treatments for his cancer. In the meantime, Trixter’s guitarist, Steve Brown, will be filling in.

Whitesnake will be releasing Live In ‘84-Back To The The Bone. A collection of material from that time period. It comes out November 11th. It will be available in CD/DVD, plus deluxe versions as well.
